‘Dino’ Agostino De Laurentiis (Torre Annunziata, 8th August 1919 - Los Angeles, 11th November 2010) , was a an Italian cinema producer, internationally recognized for many successful films. Some films even got a cult status, such as ‘La Strada’ (1954) , ‘Bitter Rice’ (1949) , ‘War and Peace’ (1956) , ‘Barabbas’ (1962) , ‘Barbarella’ (1968) , ‘Serpico’ (1973) , ‘Conan the Barbarian’ (1982) , ‘Blue velvet ‘(1986) and several Hannibal Lecter saga films. De Laurentiis married the legendary Italian actress Silvana Mangano in the 1950s and they divorced in the mid-1980s. Silvana Mangano lived in Madrid since 1986, and after the end of her marriage to Dino de Laurentiis, she sold her homes in New York and Santo Domingo, and settled down in the Spanish capital with her daughter Francesca and her husband, José Antonio Escrivá, son of the also cinema director Vicente Escrivá. This Mercedes-Benz 450 SLC was originally bought by ‘Dino de Laurentiis Corp’ and it was later transferred to Silvana Mangano, probably because of the divorce. The car was sold and registered in Madrid in 1991 following the death of the Italian actress. The car is fully original and in very good preserved condition. As you can see in the pictures, it has no rust at all and it only has a small flaw on the upholstery of one door and small wear on the bumper rubbers. The car has been inspected personally by the Catawiki specialist. The vehicle is equipped many options from the period, such as sliding sunroof, red leather seats, climate control (with air conditioning) , cruise control, brakes with ABS and metallic paint. It has the original Becker Mexico radio, still with Italian music tapes that were there when the current owner bought the car. Only one owner since 1991. The car also still has the original New York stickers on the windscreen. It reads only 47,000 km, non-verifiable, but they could be real considering the vehicle’s good condition. Several repairs have been recently performed at a Mercedes-Benz Classic specialised repair shop in Madrid (4,000 euro invoices can be provided) . The fuel tank has been cleaned and tidied up. A new fuel pump has been installed. All selectors of the automatic transmission have been serviced (it is possible to provide the invoice) . The vehicle is on display at the Catawiki booth at the Retromóvil fair in Madrid between 28th November and 1st December. The car is in Madrid, Spain. Auction bids do not include transport or exportation, unless otherwise stated.
