"Santa Veronica", from the 17th century, with the "Veil of Veronica". Oil on canvas, 49x 44 cm; (total 67,5x63,5cm) According to Prof. Sandro Bellesi, this is Santa Veronica who, born blind, regains her sight thanks to the cloth on which the face of Christ was imprinted during his ascent to Calvary. is a post-Renian Emilian work of the second half of the 1600s. ; also confirmed by Galleria Vimarte (BS) , as per the technical data sheet attached to the painting, which adds: ". . The dominant stylistic elements go in the direction of Reni, as far as it concerns the compositional system and Cantarini for the naturalistic accentuation chiaroscuro ". Work with beautiful antique frame, in perfect condition, ready to hang ! . Coming from a private collection in Florence and purchased at auction, by Farsetti arte (FI) , in 2011, which I bought back in 2020.
