A late 16th / early 17th century Norwegian parcel gilt silver spoon, Bergen circa 1600 The twisted stem with a ball finial leading to a flattened rectangular section with engraved with a hatched reserve applied with a cast leafy boss. The fig shaped bowl with an engraved Christogram HIS above a pointed scroll ribbon section. Marked with town mark only to the reverse of stem. Length – 13.7 cm / 5.15 inches Weight – 27 grams / 0.87 ozt A spoon by Jacob Meybom (active 1752-1590) and another by Gierdt Frølich (active 1608-17) with near identical engraving to the bowl is illustrated in Storesund.
