Chair (7) - Napoleon III - Beech - Second half 19th century

Height 91 cm, width 48 cm, in white lacquered beech wood original velvet fabrics, at the back of the backrest, velvet detached on one side of each chair, traces of restoration and white glue on two chairs, unsigned chair probably made by the Jeanselme cabinetmaker factory, in Paris, under the second Empire. Seven chairs are offered from a series of 24 inscribed on one chair 5252 and 24, another one 5252 and 15. Seven chairs in red velvet called crimson, in white lacquered beech wood, original painting. Chair numbered 5252 on the back crossbar. In an inventory of the Palais de Saint-Cloud in 1855, we find the number AJ/19/1158 for the comedy pavilion, auditorium, box and first gallery, furniture of several benches and chairs made of beech wood and painted white with plain crimson velvet and studded with the braid of the numbers 5251-5252 as well as the numbers from 5254 to 5259. as well as a series of 24 chairs numbered 5254 with double baluster crosspiece, white paint and red velvet. These chairs of style louis XV are identical, concerning the painting, the red studded velvet is similar to the furniture of the auditorium of the Palais de Saint-Cloud.
