Painting on copper. St. Francis in meditation. Late 16th/early 17th century. Quality painting, depicting St. Francis in a cave praying in front of a crucifix. The saint is dressed in a simple monk's robe with hood. The rosary necklace is tied to the rough rope belt. One hand is resting on the book and next to it thre is a skull. On the right, a small but suggestive landscape with bluish tones, reminiscent of the Umbrian landscapes where the saint lived. There are some small pictorial touch-ups. In general, the colours are very vivid and the condition is good. Gilded wooden frame, 18th century. Size with frame: 26 x 3 x 22 cm Size without frame: 17 x 13. 5 cm
